Description:
We are looking for passionate Sr. Ruby on Rails Engineers interested in becoming the lead engineer of a new software startup focusing on the building information systems and transition of construction intelligence to building management.
Our company is rooted in California and we build product development teams for promising mobile/web software startups in Silicon Valley and elsewhere. We develop innovative products for these startups by building and running their teams in India with similar productivity, quality and passion as teams in Silicon Valley.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of software system design
- Champion a common set of design principles and best practices, and apply them across all software projects
- Take a leadership role in major design tasks, including authoring of design documents and prototyping; but be willing to help out with maintenance and bugfixing!
- Take advisory/mentor role with other engineers
- Work with Director of Engineering and COO on planning and coordinating major product initiatives, and ensure designs fulfill product and business objectives
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science (graduate degrees preferred), or demonstrated experience in lieu
- 7+ years software development experience, 3+ years Ruby on Rails experience preferred (other OO languages considered).
- Experience with Autodesk and BIM (Building Information Modeling) technologies." as desirable or nice to have
- Significant experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostGre) and domain object modelling
- Experience with expert systems, semantic analysis and knowledge representation systems — ontologies, NLP, LSI
- 4+ years development in a Unix environment (we use Ubuntu Linux).
- Experience with at least one DVCS (we use Mercurial).
- Experience with Amazon Web Services desired, Agile (SCRUM) development methodology desired.
- Knowledge in BiM (Building Information Management) and AutoDesk are desired.
