Role Overview:
The Cloud Lead will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of all cloud operations — from physical hardware procurement and infrastructure build, through to cloud service delivery, cost management, and team leadership. This is a senior strategic and operational role requiring broad experience across technology, infrastructure, financials, and people.
What you’ll do:
- Build scale the cloud operations team (from a small core to tens of people, including cross-border/remote).
- Lead the design, procurement, deployment and life-cycle management of physical infrastructure (data-centre, co-location, metal servers) as well as cloud services, in partnership with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) or co-lo providers (NTT, Equinix).
- Define and deliver a customer-facing cloud service console offering e.g., VMaaS, BMaaS, Bare-Metal Kubernetes, leveraging the underlying hardware fleet.
- Manage service integration: integrate with partners (e.g., MLaaS partner), integrate platform services (e.g., VM, bare-metal, Kubernetes) and ensure this feed into a cohesive cloud offering.
- Build and manage cloud metering, billing and accounting systems — crucially for models such as “Flex CPU / Flex Memory / Flex Storage” leasing models.
- Forecast and manage capacity: work with BD, sales and infrastructure development teams to anticipate demand, plan capacity, and automate growth/resizing of infrastructure.
- Manage internal IT infrastructure as well as infrastructure serving external customers; ensure everything is maintained, secure, performant, and operational at scale.
- Own the support model (L1/L2/L3) for cloud services: define processes, ensure coverage, manage escalations.
- Financial management: manage cost, capital expenditure, operational expenditure, possibly capital raise, cost-effectiveness of infrastructure.
- Strong leadership: team building, organizational design, cross-functional collaboration (product, BD, sales, operations, support), vendor management, strategic planning.
Who You Are:
- 10+ years of relevant experience across cloud operations, infrastructure, and software engineering / management.
- Strong hands-on software engineering background (since this role includes building service platforms, metering/billing, infrastructure automation).
- Demonstrated experience managing hardware fleets, physical infrastructure procurement, life-cycle, co-location, possibly hybrid cloud + metal architectures.
- Experience working with large cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or co-location / metal infrastructure providers (NTT, Equinix).
- Proven track record in cost management, budgeting, capital raises, operational spend control.
- Strong people leadership skills: hiring, scaling teams, leading across geographies, building organizational structure.
- Possibly experience in building cloud-native services (VMaaS, Bare Metal Kubernetes, etc) and monetisation of those services (billing, leasing models).
- Ability to work across domains: cloud architecture, infrastructure, operations, support, product, sales, vendor management.
